RQI®: Resuscitation Quality Improvement

Why RQI?

Verified CPR competence is the new standard of care. The RQI 2025 programs can help your organization deliver this new standard to your patients, and does so at a lower cost than the traditional program.

You are dedicated to improving the quality and reliability of the care your staff provides. It’s the driving force in your mission to save lives and improve the health of your community. We understand, because that’s what drives us, too. RQI replaces skills decay with verified competence and saves lives.

Every year more than 200,000 cardiac arrests occur in US hospitals. However, only 25% of patients survive with a 3-fold variation across hospitals. The ability to consistently administer high-quality CPR is critical to improving outcomes and is the last chance for survival in a cardiac arrest emergency.

Studies show that the conventional 2-year BLS training cycle is not optimal for achieving the mastery learning of high-quality CPR skills needed to save more lives. Skills decay in as few as 3 months after training is completed. The RQI 2025 programs provide a high-reliability platform for simulation-based mastery learning, implemented through low-dose, high-frequency quality improvement sessions that measure and verify competence.

The RQI 2025 programs include four courses. Completion of each course generates an eCredential for the learner. RQI satisfies requirements for providers and accreditation requirements for hospitals. Modules available include:

  • RQI Healthcare Provider
  • RQI ALS
  • RQI PALS
  • RQI for NRP
  • RQI Responder, geared for ancillary and support staff at RQI hospitals

Completion of each course generates an eCredential for the learner.

eCredentials

RQI 2025 programs provide the learner with an eCredential that verifies the learner has demonstrated competence in:

  • the gold standard of High-Quality CPR mastery by the American Heart Association
  • quarterly verified competence – Healthcare Provider, ALS and PALS eCredentials
RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential
The RQI Healthcare Provider curriculum consists of an online and hands-on session completed quarterly to maintain competency in high quality CPR. RQI Provider focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. RQI BLS Provider uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students Basic Life Support knowledge and skills. The course is the foundation of all RQI 2025 quality improvement programs, based on the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support Guidelines.

RQI ALS eCredential
RQI Advanced Life Support (ALS) curriculum is a self-directed, comprehensive program that uses a variety of eLearning assets and hands-on sessions to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. Learners are presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 in-hospital patient cases including adult cardiac and stroke emergencies. The RQI ALS Provider program along with RQI Healthcare Provider is the gold standard for maintaining competence of cognitive knowledge based on the American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines.
RQI ALS eCredential
RQI PALS eCredential
RQI Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a self-directed, comprehensive program that uses a series of eLearning assets to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of RQI PALS is for providers to maintain proficiency of the cognitive knowledge and improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The RQI PALS Provider program along with RQI Healthcare Provider is the gold standard for maintaining competence of cognitive knowledge based on the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines.
RQI PALS eCredential
RQI Responder eCredential
RQI Responder is a Resuscitation Quality Improvement program designed to prepare healthcare employees not directly involved in patient care to respond effectively and efficiently to a cardiac arrest in the first 2-3 minutes.
