RQI Save Story

Christiana Adams, who works at Salem Health, was forced to put her RQI skills to the test when, while out on a walk, saw an individual down and resuscitated them. She credits RQI with giving her the ability to properly perform CPR, enabling her to save a life.

RQI has had a significant impact on the culture at Salem Health. Staff have recognized the importance of skill proficiency, and the opportunity to practice quarterly makes staff feel more comfortable, competent, and confident.

“I am so grateful for the innovation that RQI has brought to our hospital,” Mariah shared. “Even though every 3 months nurses say, “Again, didn’t we just do it?” I truly feel it is assisting with muscle memory and calmness should a nurse enter a code situation. I look forward to new innovations that CHOC at Mission brings and I hope to be a part of them. Story of how a NICU nurse saved the life of a newborn using her RQI skills.”

— Mariah Snyder, BSN, RN, C-ELWB, CLE
