Enhancing the Commitment to Well-being through High-quality Resuscitation

Corewell Health

Corewell Health

Since 2020, Corewell Health has collaborated with RQI Partners to offer digital CPR programs at several clinic facilities. These programs include HeartCode® Complete, requiring resuscitation training every two years and Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®), focusing on quarterly resuscitation training to deliver high-quality CPR skills.

Aligned with the Corewell Health commitment to well-being, the RQI program provides a high-value experience for learners that yields the confidence their CPR skills are at the highest level if faced with a cardiac emergency.

How does RQI work?

RQI 2025 Flyer

RQI 2025 Flyer

RQI learners are assigned a course or courses: RQI Healthcare Provider (includes BLS), RQI ALS, RQI PALS. Learners have a slightly longer introductory session to each course in the initial quarter. Each subsequent quarter features shorter low-dose, high-frequency training with eLearning and skills practice.

RQI eCredentials, representing the gold standard of verified competence in high-quality CPR, are issued with ongoing course completion. Learners can also download a free, traditional two-year American Heart Association eCard. CE/CME credits can be claimed at the completion of all four quarters (0.75 credits for RQI Provider; 1.75 credits for RQI ALS and RQI PALS, respectively).

The Influence of RQI

The influence of RQI – finding peace & comfort in a difficult time

Megan Hayes, a former medical assistant, experienced the unimaginable on an October night when her mother went into sudden cardiac arrest. Despite Megan’s valiant efforts to save her mother, she unfortunately passed away. Upon returning to work, Megan would relive the worst night of her life and “I was terrified I would realize that I had done CPR on my mother incorrectly.”

Why is RQI Better?

What sets RQI apart from the rest

  1. RQI is delivered through individually accessed stations within your hospital, with robust cleaning guidelines to ensure safety for each user.
  2. RQl can be completed on your own schedule, rather than a specific class time.
  3. RQl provides continuity of training when unprecedented situations arise and other methods of training, such as the classroom, may compromise learner safety.
  4. RQl is integrated seamlessly with American Heart Association science.
  5. Low-dose, high-frequency training (quarterly training instead of once every two years) is proven to sustain knowledge and skills more effectively over time and at a higher level of quality. This leads to high-quality CPR performance and competence, in turn maximizing lifesaving outcomes from cardiac arrest.
Making a Difference

Studies have revealed that despite best efforts, high-quality CPR is often not performed (sometimes less than 25% nationally) therefore having a dramatic impact on survival rates. And since skills decay in as soon as 3-6 months following training, a 2-year cycle is not optimal for quality psychomotor skills. Going Digital is Backed by Science

RQI Simulation Station

The American Heart Association digital resuscitation training portfolio incorporates the latest American Heart Association science and Laerdal Medical technology for a learning experience that aims to achieve and verify mastery of resuscitation skills through the Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®) program. Learners reach this level of mastery only with more frequent, deliberate practice using the RQI Simulation Station.

Studies show that the conventional two-year basic life support training cycle is not optimal for achieving the mastery learning of high-quality CPR skills needed to help save more lives. Skills begin to decay in as few as three months after training. Quarterly, low-dose, high-frequency skills refreshers promote ongoing skill mastery and competence, ultimately preparing  healthcare professionals  to help save lives during a cardiac arrest emergency.

“When we needed a solution to the challenges of delivering certification training across Hawaii’s remote locations and islands, our colleagues in Maui referred us to RQI Partners and RQI came through for us in ways we couldn’t have imagined.
The convenience of having in-house certifications with fixed and mobile stations, and personalized learning modules that can be accessed online from anywhere has been a true lifesaver. The mobile stations are perfect for our diverse spaces and teams, always ready when we need them. The data and analytic support have been outstanding, allowing us to keep improving. We loved it so much that we expanded our investment beyond BLS, ACLS, and PALS to include the NRP module as well for our NICU teams.
We’re especially thankful for RQI’s caring and attentive customer service, which made the transition so smooth. And the best part? Our staff can now recertify before or during their shifts, with no need for administrative leave, meaning less disruption and more focus on patient care.”
