This innovative program will change and improve how you retain and master lifesaving CPR skills.

Rethinking CPR education delivery and quality

Canada Eastern Health Map

Being part of a movement

The implementation of RQI across Eastern Health is another step forward in achieving your vision of Healthy People, Healthy Communities. Supporting your core values, the RQI program applies an innovative spaced-learning model with directive skills feedback to verify the learners’ competence in the gold standard of High-Quality CPR mastery.

Low-dose, high-frequency education (quarterly instead of annual training) is proven to sustain knowledge and skills more effectively over time and at a higher level of quality. This leads to high-quality CPR performance and competence, in turn maximising lifesaving outcomes from cardiac arrest.

Perfect practice makes perfect

Why Performance in CPR Training Matters

The clinical science is clear: CPR skills decay rapidly, requiring quarterly refreshers to maintain competence. With RQI, staff learn on their own schedule, at the point of care. Simulation stations conveniently located throughout the organisation make it easy to incorporate brief skills refreshers every 90 days into normal workflow. RQI brings quality BLS education straight to staff, enhancing patient care instead of interrupting it. RQI is the only program proven to achieve clinical competence in high-quality CPR.

How RQI can make perfect practice easier

  1. RQI is delivered through individually accessed stations within your hospital, with robust cleaning guidelines to ensure safety for each user.
  2. RQI can be completed on your own schedule, rather than a specific class time. Simulation stations can be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  3. RQI provides continuity of education when unprecedented situations arise that make traditional face to face education impractical.
  4. RQI is integrated seamlessly with current American Heart Association science and is supported and endorsed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada as a resuscitation quality improvement program.

RQI Mastery Learning

The RQI Mastery Learning and Curricula consists of both skills assessments and cognitive assessments delivered in a “low-dose, high-frequency” methodology. Using a unique blend of cognitive learning and applied skills practice, our Mastery Learning and Curricula delivers content via videos, interactive exercises and simulated patient cases. Topic-specific cognitive assignments are administered on a fixed schedule in a “low dose, high frequency” approach and paired with psychomotor skills assessments completed at the RQI Skills Station.

A Learner’s Journey

The Learner's Journey

After successful completion of an RQI Healthcare Provider: Entry or Prep assignment, all participants will be enrolled in the RQI Healthcare Provider perpetual curriculum. Compliance with core skills and cognitive knowledge activities will result in active AHA/HSFC eCredential status. This status updates quarterly with successful completion of all assigned activities.

Delivering learning and skills practice quarterly — rather than on a traditional two-year training cycle — mitigates skills decay, which translates into saving more lives.
