The Neonatal Resuscitation Program®, 8th Edition
Prepared to save a life just beginning.
The American Academy of Pediatrics will release the 8th Edition of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®), available only through RQI Partners beginning in June 2021. The new Edition features valuable updates to course content, levels of learning, and delivery methods, including:
- Two new levels of provider learning: NRP providers or organizations choose which curriculum is best for each individual learner – NRP Essentials or NRP Advanced.
- True Adaptive™ learning: Methodology that intelligently and continuously adapts the learning experience to each individual learner.
- New Learning Platform: The 8th Edition Instructor and Provider courses launch in June 2021 on the new NRP Learning PlatformTM, powered by RQI Partners.
- Two education delivery options available: Instructor-led training will be available for the 8th Edition, in addition to RQI® for NRP®– a new quality improvement program that verifies competence in positive pressure ventilation (PPV) skills on a neonatal simulator.
Pre-order the NRP 8th Edition now to ensure access to the latest science, course content, and True Adaptive learning, beginning in June 2021. Pre-orders will be delivered in June 2021. Unused 7th Edition licenses will not convert to 8th Edition content until January 2022.

A New Collaboration:
The American Academy of Pediatrics and RQI Partners
Improving neonatal resuscitation, education, and training globally is the objective of the collaboration between the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and RQI Partners.
To achieve this goal, the organizations are leveraging science from the AAP with the American Heart Association’s leadership in resuscitation education and Laerdal Medical’s expertise in neonatal simulation solutions, with RQI Partners jointly leading program management and design with the AAP.
The New NRP 8th Edition
Two Provider tracks will be offered by the NRP 8th edition curriculum: NRP Essentials (includes skills through face-mask ventilation and laryngeal mask insertion) and NRP Advanced (all resuscitation skills for term and preterm newborns). Each facility will determine who should take NRP Essentials or NRP Advanced. The 8th Edition will be offered in the traditional format, and also as an all-digital RQI for NRP self-directed, simulation-based, mastery learning format.
In addition to updated familiar content, the 8th edition textbook will feature useful practice recommendations and Supplemental Lessons that will include information about ethics, choreography of codes, resuscitation outside of the delivery room, and quality improvement practices related to resuscitation.
The new NRP 8th Edition and RQI for NRP will be available for assignments in June, 2021.

Digital Innovation: The new RQI® for NRP®
The American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program will now be offered within the Resuscitation Quality Improvement® principles of mastery learning, including quarterly, self-directed learning, providing an RQI for NRP e-credential that verifies competence in neonatal resuscitation.
Developed with leading experts in neonatal resuscitation science and education, the RQI Neonatal Resuscitation Program efficiently and safely delivers effective and individual education and skills refreshers in brief quarterly sessions that achieve and verify competence and confidence for NRP Essential providers in treating a low-frequency, high-acuity neonatal resuscitation event.
As members of the RQI Community, RQI for NRP hospitals achieve the full benefits of the RQI digital resuscitation platform—the operational efficiencies that lower costs, seamless program updates including all disciplines of BLS, ALS, PALS and NRP, and a continuous system of support focused on achieving a program of resuscitation excellence to help save more babies’ lives.
RQI for NRP will be available for assignments in June, 2021.
