Let’s save more lives together

Welcome, Vidant Health!

Thank you for making the commitment to save more lives from cardiac arrest. Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®) is being implemented across your system. This innovative program will change and improve how you complete CPR training.

Rethinking CPR education delivery and quality

Why is RQI better than other resuscitation education?

  1. RQI is delivered through individually accessed stations within your hospital, with robust cleaning guidelines to ensure safety for each user.
  2. RQI can be completed on your own schedule, rather than a specific class time.
  3. RQI provides continuity of training when unprecedented situations arise and other methods of training, such as the classroom, may compromise learner safety.
  4. RQI is integrated seamlessly with American Heart Association science.
  5. Low-dose, high-frequency training (quarterly training instead of once every two years) is proven to sustain knowledge and skills more effectively over time and at a higher level of quality. This leads to high-quality CPR performance and competence, in turn maximizing lifesaving outcomes from cardiac arrest.

There are many other reasons why RQI is the ideal program for resuscitation education. Please submit a comment or question through the form at the bottom of the page if you’re seeking additional or specific information.

How does RQI work?

RQI learners are assigned a course or courses: RQI Healthcare Provider (includes BLS), RQI ALS, RQI PALS. Learners have a slightly longer introductory session to each course in the initial quarter. Each subsequent quarter features shorter low-dose, high-frequency training with eLearning and skills practice.

RQI eCredentials, representing the gold standard of verified competence in high-quality CPR, are issued with ongoing course completion. Learners can also download a free, traditional two-year American Heart Association eCard. CE/CME credits can be claimed at the completion of all four quarters (0.75 credits for RQI Provider; 1.75 credits for RQI ALS and RQI PALS, respectively).

RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential
The RQI Healthcare Provider curriculum consists of an online and hands-on session completed quarterly to maintain competency in high quality CPR. RQI Provider focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. RQI BLS Provider uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students Basic Life Support knowledge and skills. The course is the foundation of all RQI 2025 quality improvement programs, based on the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support Guidelines.

RQI ALS eCredential
RQI Advanced Life Support (ALS) curriculum is a self-directed, comprehensive program that uses a variety of eLearning assets and hands-on sessions to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. Learners are presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 in-hospital patient cases including adult cardiac and stroke emergencies. The RQI ALS Provider program along with RQI Healthcare Provider is the gold standard for maintaining competence of cognitive knowledge based on the American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines.

RQI PALS eCredential
RQI Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a self-directed, comprehensive program that uses a series of eLearning assets to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of RQI PALS is for providers to maintain proficiency of the cognitive knowledge and improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The RQI PALS Provider program along with RQI Healthcare Provider is the gold standard for maintaining competence of cognitive knowledge based on the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines.

RQI Responder eCredential
RQI Responder is a Resuscitation Quality Improvement program designed to prepare healthcare employees not directly involved in patient care to respond effectively and efficiently to a cardiac arrest in the first 2-3 minutes. CPR is a victim’s last chance for survival. Every second counts. The RQI Responder course will also serve to increase CPR awareness within hospitals.
